Cataract Surgery Experience
Patients searching for a reliable eye surgeon for cataract surgery can consider Dr Jimmy Lim’s clinical experience, specialist training and work in cataract-related research.
Dr Lim’s areas of research include intraocular lens calculations for highly myopic eyes, astigmatism correction during cataract surgery and cataract surgery outcomes in patients who have previously undergone refractive surgery. He completed clinical fellowship training in cataract, cornea, refractive and anterior-segment surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, United States.
At JL Eye Specialists, a cataract consultation may include an examination of the patient’s overall eye health, measurements used for intraocular lens planning and a discussion about visual needs. The recommended treatment and lens option will depend on the patient’s examination results, lifestyle and eye health.
Cataract Care for Seniors in Singapore
Cataracts commonly affect older adults and may cause blurred vision, glare, reduced colour clarity and difficulty with activities such as reading or driving.
For seniors considering cataract surgery in Singapore, Dr Lim assesses how cataracts are affecting everyday activities and checks for other eye conditions that could influence treatment. He then explains the available treatment and intraocular lens options so that patients and their family members can make an informed decision.
There is no single correct age for cataract surgery. Surgery is generally considered when cataracts begin to interfere with daily life, and every patient requires an individual eye examination before treatment is recommended.

LASIK and Refractive Surgery Experience

Dr Jimmy Lim is an experienced LASIK and refractive surgery specialist in Singapore. His background includes serving as Deputy Head of Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute and completing overseas fellowship training in corneal and laser refractive surgery.
He underwent fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine and at the Institut für Refraktive und Ophthalmo-Chirurgie in Zurich. His research has also included refractive surgery outcomes, visual-function assessment and dry-eye management.
Patients considering LASIK receive a pre-operative suitability assessment. This is important because LASIK is not appropriate for everyone. The assessment examines factors such as corneal shape and thickness, prescription stability, tear-film condition and general eye health.
